Does SiteChat use AI or require an API key?

No. SiteChat does not use any external AI service. It uses TF-IDF keyword extraction and relevance scoring that runs entirely on your own server. There are no API keys to configure and no monthly AI costs. The matching engine is built into the plugin.

How does the smart matching work?

When a visitor asks a question, SiteChat extracts keywords from their message and compares them against the indexed content using TF-IDF (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency) scoring. It ranks all content by relevance and returns the best match. Manual Q&A pairs are checked first and take priority over auto-scanned content.

What content does it scan?

By default, SiteChat scans all published pages and posts. You can include or exclude specific post types, categories, or individual pages from the settings. The Pro plan and above also scans WooCommerce products, including descriptions, pricing, and attributes.

Can I add custom answers for specific questions?

Yes. The Manual Q&A feature lets you define keyword-to-answer pairs for questions your content doesn't cover or where you want a specific response. Manual answers always take priority over auto-scanned content matches.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes, on the Pro and Agency plans. SiteChat scans your WooCommerce product data including titles, descriptions, prices, and attributes. Visitors can ask product-related questions and get accurate answers pulled directly from your store.

What's the difference between Starter, Pro, and Agency?

Starter is for a single site and covers the core chat widget with auto-scanned content and basic customization — ideal for small sites that just need to answer visitor questions. Pro (5 sites) adds the advanced features: chat logs, analytics, lead capture, custom branding and avatar, and WooCommerce support. Agency (25 sites) adds multiple widget configurations per site, advanced AI model settings, white-label branding, and custom CSS injection — built for agencies managing client sites.

Is SiteChat GDPR compliant?

Yes. SiteChat does not send any data to external servers. All content indexing, matching, and chat processing happens on your own WordPress server. Chat logs are stored in your database and can be exported or deleted at any time. No cookies are set by the chat widget unless the visitor initiates a conversation.
