Everything you need to
fix your PageSpeed scores

The full Lighthouse audit pipeline, translated into WordPress actions — from inside your admin.

Built-in PSI scanner

Trigger a full Google PageSpeed Insights scan for any URL — mobile, desktop, or both simultaneously — without leaving your WordPress admin. Results appear in 10–30 seconds.

🔧

WordPress-specific fix steps

Every failing audit maps to numbered, WordPress-specific instructions. Not “eliminate render-blocking resources” — but which plugin to install, which setting to toggle, and which menu to find it in.

📷

Covers 30+ audit IDs

Performance, accessibility, best practices, and SEO audits are all mapped — render-blocking resources, unused JS/CSS, image formats, server response time, contrast ratios, meta descriptions, and more.

📋

Scan history Pro+

Every scan is logged so you can track score improvements over time and prove the impact of your changes. See exactly when you fixed a score and by how much.

💾

24-hour smart caching

Results are cached in WordPress transients for 24 hours so repeat visits to the page don’t burn your API quota. One click forces a fresh scan from Google when you need it.

🌐

Scan any URL

Test your homepage, product pages, blog posts, landing pages — any publicly accessible URL. The scanner tab defaults to your home URL but accepts anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Google API key?
Yes. SpeedSurgeon calls the Google PageSpeed Insights API v5. The free API tier gives you 25,000 requests per day — far more than any WordPress site would use. Getting a key takes about two minutes in Google Cloud Console.
What makes this different from running PageSpeed Insights in my browser?
The scanner itself produces the same scores, but SpeedSurgeon adds the Translation Layer — every failing audit is mapped to numbered, WordPress-specific fix steps with real plugin names and admin menu paths, right inside your dashboard. No copy-pasting into Google, no guessing what “eliminate render-blocking resources” means in WordPress.
How many Lighthouse audits are covered?
SpeedSurgeon v1.0.0 ships with mappings for 30+ audit IDs across all four Lighthouse categories — Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO. Unmapped audits show a link to the relevant Lighthouse documentation. More mappings are added with each release.
Will scanning my site slow it down?
No. PageSpeed Insights scans are triggered manually from your admin and are performed by Google's servers fetching your URL — the same thing that happens when you run PageSpeed Insights in a browser. No load is placed on your hosting beyond a normal page visit.
What's the difference between the plans?
All plans include the full scanner, all 30+ WordPress fix step mappings, mobile & desktop scanning, and 24-hour smart caching. Starter ($49) covers 1 site — great for a one-off audit. Pro ($129) adds scan history (50 scans/site) so you can track improvements over time across 5 sites. Agency ($299) gives you unlimited scan history across 25 sites with priority support.
Do I get updates and support?
Yes — one-click updates are delivered straight to your WordPress dashboard, and every plan includes a year of updates and support (priority on Pro and Agency).
